Michela Cava is considered one of the winningest players in professional women’s hockey, winning five consecutive championships in her last five years.
Born and raised in Thunder Bay, the offensive powerhouse began her hockey journey at age four. After a standout youth career with the Thunder Bay Queens, Cava played NCAA Division I hockey at the University of Connecticut, where she tied for the team lead in points during her freshman season, for her first two seasons and capped her collegiate career off at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
A microcosm for the evolution of women’s hockey over the past decade, Cava excelled in each league she competed in, including the CWHL, and ZHL. Notably, she helped Luleå HF/MSSK win the SDHL championship in 2021 and contributed to the KRS Vanke Rays' ZhHL title in 2022.
In the 2022–23 season, Cava joined the Toronto Six of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), where she earned playoff MVP honors and helped the team capture the Isobel Cup.She continued her success with the Minnesota Frost in the inaugural PWHL season, leading the team to back-to-back Walter Cup championships in 2024 and 2025, scoring the game winning goal in the league’s inaugural championship game.
In June 2025, Cava signed a two-year contract with PWHL Vancouver, continuing her professional journey on the West Coast. Off the ice, Cava is known for her social personality and prioritizing her teammates.
